The Work Crew is a CRUCIAL part of making the Fall Retreat experience amazing for our students!

SharpTop Cove requires all groups using the facility to provide a Work Crew for their trip. This helps keep the student rates as low as possible while still ensuring quality services during our stay! Work Crew attends Retreat for free!

The Work Crew will provide wait staff, cooks & bakers, dishwashers, lifeguards, and snack bar attendants. You won’t attend Retreat like regular campers. Serving will account for a majority of your time!

LIFEGUARDS

We will need three certified lifeguards to attend camp with us for the Pool, Slide, and Rope Swing!

These lifeguards will only need to be at Sharptop on the 29th from 12:00 – 6:00 PM!

WORK CREW

Not only does work crew provide needed services to students, but work crew also puts flesh on the gospel message in a unique fashion! We will need 17 Work Crew members!

Responsibilities:

Meal set-ups

Set-up consists of setting the tables and a 15-minute pre-set of perishable items

Serving

Serving consists of serving firsts to each table, serving all the seconds to tables after all firsts have been served, and serving desserts when the kitchen releases them.

Bussing

Bussing consists of collecting and saving leftovers, clearing and taking dishes to be washed, clearing trash, and wiping down tables to be set again for the next meal.

Camp Clean Up

Camp clean up consists of dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the closets, cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping & mopping the entrances, and polishing the windows at the end of our stay. (Students help here)

What would your day look like?

Arrive at Mill 1 hour and 15 minutes before camper breakfast
  • Pre-set tables as instructed in work crew manual.
  • Eat breakfast, assign tables and review side jobs
  • End Work Crew meal after 30 minutes. Bus tables and reset if needed.
  • Pre-set meal, serve, bus, clean, re-set, and verify next meal time.
Return 15 minutes before Work Crew lunch, verify setup
  • Eat lunch, expect extra tables for wranglers and staff.
  • End Work Crew meal after 30 minutes. Bus tables and reset if needed.
  • Pre-set meal, serve, bus, clean, re-set, and verify next meal time.
  • Complete side jobs
Return 15 minutes before Work Crew dinner, verify setup
  • Eat dinner, check which meal wranglers will eat.
  • Pre-set meal, serve, bus, clean, re-set, and verify next meal time.
  • Be aware of program schedule, 20 minutes, snack bar times etc

Work crew often has 1 hour of free time before lunch, 3 hours before dinner, and will be finished by 9pm. This varies slightly depending on the organization of the crew and the program schedule for the camp. Work Crew may have additional tasks.
