Child Dedication at Four Points Church

Please read this statement prior to completing your Child Dedication application.
At Four Points Church, we believe that Child Dedication is a public commitment by two parents, who are mutually joined together in a biblical marriage, to signify the desire to disciple their child in the ways and knowledge of the Lord. Much like Hannah’s desire to give her son Samuel to the service of the Lord, the parents can affirm, “For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore I have lent him to the LORD. As long as he lives, he is lent to the LORD.” (1 Samuel 1:27-28 ESV). Child Dedication is not a sacrament and does not lead to the salvation of a child. It is simply a symbolic and public act by a husband and wife that expresses a commitment to be the primary disciple makers of their child, while being faithful members of the local church, as both are themselves being built up and encouraged in the gospel.

We believe that Child Dedication is best expressed in a public worship gathering that involves not only parents but also the faithful members of the local church. The members of the local body assist in supplementing discipleship, commit to serving, loving, and praying for the child and parents who are involved in the Child Dedication. Because of our expectations and view of Child Dedication it is expected that the parents of the child are faithful members of Four Points Church. Members of Four Points have expressed their convictions to be theologically unified in the expressed beliefs of Four Points Church and are willing to humbly submit to the leadership God has put in place over their souls. If you are not currently a member, please sign up for our next link lunch to begin the membership process at Four Points.
